Are you looking for an awesome dog to call your own or add to your pack ? If so pick me!!!

Here’s a bit about me, and why I’d make the perfect dog for someone…

My name is Cairo and I’m a very handsome boy, tall, dark - well I’ve got a dark muzzle hehe, and handsome - in a cute goofy way - my little under bite is super cute!

I’m about 18mth old, already been vaccinated and desexed.
I’m really athletic - LOVE, LOVE running - I could do this all day, and if given the chance I take my toy on my runs. Because I love running soooo much I do need a big back yard or someone that wants to take me out for runs everyday - if you have an orchard or farm - I am your man!

I’m good with other dogs, I’m happy to hang out with them and share my space. I’m also ok with cats and stick as long as introduced correctly of course. I’m just not really to interested in them to be honest.

I’d also be super happy if you want to put some training into me, and I could maybe find a job ?

I’m all house trained, so good to there. I do love a good cuddle on the couch while watching tv with my human, or other doggy friends.

I think I’d be ok in home with another dog, or by myself as long as I have lots of space to keep me occupied while you’re out.

I haven’t lived with kids, but have had them visit as always been very gentle with them so think I’d be happy to live with them, and if they like running even better!
So if your looking for a pretty chilled out guy to join your family let ARAN Rescue know so we can arrange a meeting 🙂

If you could fill out an online application form I will love you forever. This is the link.

See you soon

He loves his "owlie". He's so clever and knows him by name to find him. Looks like owlie has lost (maybe "lost") his squeaker. Let us know if he needs another one. 🙂😉

Getting off the chain for an hour a day doesn't seem much of a step forward to me. I would like it the other way around, only an hour max per day tethered. Ha s anyone put together a suggested list of more radical proposals that people could use for submissions?

Why have a fur baby if you are just going to leave it chained up…it’s not right …

This is not living - shame on the owners and people who see it being done and do nothing.

Heartbreaking 💔

Tethering is basically covered in s12a of the AWA deals with failing to comply with s10 (a) & (b) - best practice and scientific knowledge which links to S4 (c)AWA opportunity to display normal patterns of behaviour. It’s difficult to prove a dog is not ‘off a chain’ for an hour or more - this changes nothing. Legislation in an attempt to reduce the population of dogs through compulsory desexing along with more resources (staff and pay) for those who enforce the AWA 99 and DC Act 1996 would potentially reduce unwanted litters going to morons who shouldn’t own a piece of string let alone a dog and reduce the amount of abuse

I just read this and felt so angry, an hour off a chain a day and the displaying distress behavior like any dog life chained is going to he distressed. I find the whole thing a bit of a joke really it's like they are trying to put a mini band aid on a huge issue that they know won't fix it but they have had so many complaints and feedback that they have to come up with something. I don't think this is a step forward I think it's a side step that will not improve or liberate the poor souls that live in this situation for their whole life. If someone is chaining there dog 24/7 I don't see how or why they would let them off for one hour and how could you even enforce this.. rant over

Heartbreaking poor dogs cruel useless owners

I would think No chain, what the f***

This is so wrong maybe chain the owners up all day see how we like it we need stronger and clear rules and laws around animal welfare we to laid back here and stick heads in the sand

If they have to be chained on your property you shouldn't have them fullstop. 🤦‍♀️ WTF is wrong with humanity 🙄😳

I just sent in my submission

Breaks my heart why would you even have one ? To look at this misery everyday i dont understand..

How does one make a submission ? And who to ? Address ?

We need to print banner's of these photo's of poor dogs chained up and hold them in public in every town for all the vile dog owner's who normalise this cruelty.

They should put a yes to all landlords in that we as tenants should have our furbbys

Do not own a dog if it cannot run free in your home😡😡😡😡😡

Please use the word objection not submission. To submit is to agree.

Disappointed the SPCA did not make this for all animals ! I will submit but goats desperately need to get off tethers as well

An hour a day is not enough. And people will lie about that anyway. Let’s look for physical evidence. Old faecal matter (should be removed), fresh water in clean secure bowls. No piles of old bones.

We are still looking for a good New home or Foster home for Snowy with good fencing. Can you help???

www.jotform.com/aranrescuenz/aran-fosterers-agreement

URGENT URGENT

LOCATED in Manawatu. A suitable foster in the Manawatu/Whanganui area or an adoptive home anywhere is urgently needed by midday tomorrow (Wednesday 8th). Please complete the form in the links below.

This 6 month old bull terrier X pup urgently needs a suitable foster or adoptive home, right now. Snowy grew up in a family home situation with small children and cats, and his only crime was being too active and full of beans for the mum of the house to manage his exercise and training needs.. Snowy will bark for attention and out of boredom so he needs a dog buddy and/or human attention during the day.

Snowy needs a home where he gets plenty of love and exercise, and in return he will be the most loyal friend you could hope for!

Snowy is great with cats, children of all ages, and other dogs. He has had an unfortunate run-in with a chicken, so a no-chicken home is best.

His new home must have good fencing, a safe secure place for him to be while you are out, and someone home most of the day. ARAN dogs cannot be chained to kennels or left for long periods home alone. All ARAN dogs must sleep indoors.

Our adoptions start with a two-week trial period to ensure the dog is a good fit for you. If things don't work out they return to their foster home.

Snowy will be de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped and registered, and up to date with flea/worm treatments.

There is an adoption fee to contribute towards these costs. This heavily subsidised adoption fee is approx 50% of what you would otherwise pay to have a new dog fully vetted and desexed, registered and chipped. This pup's situation is urgent so we are able to negotiate his adoption fee for the right home.

The first step if you are interested in adopting is to fill out an online adoption application which you can do here:
www.jotform.com/aranrescuenz/questionnaire

Amber Thompson I hope you get this sweet baby. Please update us 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🐾🐾🐾

What happens if you can't find a foster home by tomorrow ?

Awe baby boy wish I didn’t have chickens right now seeing your sweet face. Our big girl looks like you in many ways.

Is he up for adoption?

Has he found a foster?

If there is no alternative but put to sleep if no foster is found, can he not perhaps go into the pound for 7 days to give you time.

What's the cost of adoption?.. I know some ask over 300 in which is extreme ...I'd love to meet him..

Snowy is absolutely adorable .

Gorgeous..he's just a baby

He’s gorgeous

How old is this sweet boy please? Will he be a big dog?

Will also need sunblock ❤️❤️

Gonzo is in Urgent need of a foster home.

Foster or adopt Gonzo, who is a 2-year-old Boxer X located in Manawatu.

Gonzo has been in a foster home and his foster mum thought he was just great, but a change in her circumstances means that Gonzo needs a new place to go.

Gonzo is a friendly, happy boy, but needs some more confidence building, He has been playing with lots of other dogs, so another dog in the home would be good for him and for someone to be at home for most of the day.

Gonzo has not been tested with cats or stock.

His home would be quiet but active and for someone to understand that Gonzo is unsure in new situations.

His new home must have good fencing.

Gonzo is de-sexed, fully vaccinated, chipped and registered.
There is an adoption fee of $300 to help us cover these costs.

Cairo is a Ridgeback X and is located in the Wellington Region.

Cairo was an unclaimed stray, so we have no definite information about him. We believe he is aged around 18 months, Cairo has been in a foster home, learning some basic commands and has been crate trained. However, his training needs to be on-going, but as he is very fond of food, this shouldn't be too hard. Cairo loves to play and run, but when excited can jump up, so is best in an adult home. He loves everybody and in heaven when he can cuddle on the couch with his favourite people. He will bark to alert you of anyone arriving, but will greet in a friendly manner. Cairo is untested with cats.

His new home must have good fencing and for someone to be home part of the day.

Cairo will be de-sexed, fully vaccinated, chipped and registered.

Cairo is a awesome dog. I have spent a lot of time with him. He has alot of love to give and he is in foster with two other dogs.

I’ve met Cairo many times, he has a heart of gold, I just can’t understand why no one has snapped him up yet! He would be such a great best friend ❤️

He is the best. It's insane that he's not in a forever home yet. Someone needs to snap this handsome man up. We miss having him around. He's such an awesome dog.

He's not the best at treat catching but he tries (and got better at it). 😍

He is a lovely dog and I really enjoyed playing with him. She is going to make someone a wonderful friend. I think you could have a lot of fun doing nosework or trail running, or dryland sledding with him.

He is the best at waiting enthusiastically but patiently at meal time.

OMG hes adorable x

Absolutely beautiful

Jamie Reid Nicola Gillespie maybe Scoob does need a brother😍 - they are practically identical

Buzz is a seven year old Hunterway X desexed male, currently residing in the Wellington area.

He's a really lovely natured dog who is very sadly having to be re-homed as his dad passed away recently.

He has always been a very loved family dog and is very relaxed and chilled out around the house. He's very loving and adores being around people.

Buzz is very good with other dogs and loves his walks. He's an enthusiast and likes to run up and say hello to other dogs and kids so a bit of work will be needed around recall in this department.

He's quite a strong dog and does pull on a lead when he's keen to get where he wants to go! He walks well on a lead when there is nothing interesting to get to though, so again, a bit of work needed.

Buzz has been used to having another dog as a playmate and someone home for most of the time so he will need at least one of these in his new home.

Buzz is not suitable to live with cats or chickens.

Buzz has been de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped and registered and is up to date with flea/worm treatments.

There is an adoption fee of $150 to contribute towards these costs.

The first step if you are interested in adopting is to fill out an online adoption application which you can do here:

How can you resist this boy? Hunter is a Huntaway Cross. At approx 10 years young he is a dog with lots of love yet to give.

Here is what his foster has to say about him.

'Hunter is a perfect older gentleman with a very gentle nature. He LOVES people – all people. If you ask him to sit, he will sit right next to you and gaze lovingly into your eyes. He would make someone a great companion and would be suited to someone being home most of the time. He loves to be next to you and will give you a nudge for a pat, or stick his nose under your arm and push his head through, once the head is through he is happy to sit there for as long as you want with your arm around him. He will give you space but likes to be in the proximity of a human. Hunter is a very quick learner – he is toilet trained and crate trained for night-time sleeping. He loves going in the car and for walks. We usually walk for half an hour and afterwards a nap is in order. Not tested one on one with cats but sees them when walking and shows no interest. Thunder was scary the other day so put a pair of PJ’s on and hopped on my lap for company – after being invited to do so'.

ARAN dogs cannot be chained to kennels or left for long periods home alone. All ARAN dogs must sleep indoors.

Our adoptions start with a two week trial period, to make sure the dog is a good fit for you. If things don't work out they return to their foster home.

Toto is around 5 months old and is located in the Manawatu area. He is a lovely pup and enjoys being with people, as well as other dogs. He has not been tested with cats or stock.

Toto is believed to be a German Shepherd x Huntaway. As he is still very young, Toto will need on-going training and somebody home for most of the day or another dog to play with. Good fencing is required for all ARAN dogs. He must be allowed to sleep inside the house and be part of the family.

Toto will be de-sexed, fully vaccinated, flea and worm treated, chipped and registered.

A huge thanks to all who emailed us offering a place for Harvey, and those who shared and commented. Harvey is now on trial with a lovely family ❣️

On behalf: Harvey was picked up on the side of the southern motorway. He was riddled with fleas and ticks. So we took him to the vets to get checked out. He had no microchip or collar and no one has come looking for him.
Not sure of the breed but maybe staffy/ridgeback??.
He is a very loving pup. He's also a quick learner. He’s doing well with toilet training and learning basic commands. We would love to keep him, but we have a dog already. We are based in Pakuranga, Auckland. He has had his first vaccination and will need to be desexed as a condition of adoption. Please email aran.rescue.nz@gmail.com

FOSTER OR ADOPT Bobbie is a border collie x approx 10 to 12 weeks of age, She has had her first vaccination, wormimg and deflea and will be adopted with a desexing contract arranged in advance.
A foster home would be provided with all support, food etc. Her foster home would need to be local to Manawatu/Whanganui or as far as the Kapiti area.
Bobbie's home must have good fencing, a safe secure place for her to be while you are out, and someone home most of the day. ARAN dogs cannot be chained to kennels or left for long periods home alone. All ARAN dogs must sleep indoors.

A foster home would be provided with all support, food etc. Her foster home would need to be local to Manawatu/Whanganui or as far as the Kapiti area.
Bobbies home must have good fencing, a safe secure place for her to be while you are out, and someone home most of the day. ARAN dogs cannot be chained to kennels or left for long periods home alone. All ARAN dogs must sleep indoors.
Bobbie would make a great addition to an active, loving family who want an enthusiastic friend to include in their adventures. Border collies are super intelligent and need time and attention, exercise and training to be the best dog. Not suitable as family pet for toddlers and small children, but ideal for older kids and teens.
Our adoptions start with a two week trial period, to make sure the dog is a good fit for you. If things dont work out they return to their foster home.
Bobbie will be de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped and registered and is up to date with flea/worm treatments.
There is an adoption fee of $300 to contribute towards these costs. This heavily subsidised adoption fee is approx 50% of what you would otherwise pay to have a new puppy fully vetted and desexed, registered and chipped.
The first step if you are interested in adopting is to fill out an online adoption application which you can do here:

Ben is a beautiful Kelpie X Huntaway puppy, very smart in his soft glossy black and tan coat. Ben's foster family say that he is a very good boy, friendly and affectionate, great with people and other dogs.
An active family is a must because this breed is very intelligent and needs an interesting and active life with exercise and training.
Ben is located in Palmerston North

We fostered Ben's brother Buck and have ended up adopting Buck as he is such a smart and loving dog, he has fitted in amazingly with our dogs and family and has the coolest personality. If Ben is anything like him which I am sure he is (they look identical), he would make the best pet, I hope he finds his forever home soon!!!

Kevin Provis I think Ben looks like the one for us!! 😊

We would love him

Lani Monaghan look at him!

Jeremy Vincent He’s perfect Jem!

BEN HAS BEEN ADOPTED
