Meet Ford, a 9 month old Boxer x mastiff (around 15 kgs) who needs to find a new home asap. We have not met him.

The lady who currently has him rescued Ford from a family member and she already has two other dogs who don’t want this newcomer in their space.

Ford has not had a good start to life and he is anxious about food. He needs someone to train and socialise him and teach him how to be the best dog he can be.

Located in Wellington he is not yet desexed but ARAN will organise and pay for that.

Ford needs a new home by Wednesday 😢 If you can offer him a home please email [email protected] and we’ll pass your details onto his carer.

Look at that smoochy face 😍

Lizzie is in the pound in New Plymouth and just wants a family to love her.

Hi, I’m Lizzy. I’m a 6-month-old staffy lab cross – with maybe a little border collie too - currently at the New Plymouth Pound.

I am, hands down, the biggest sweetheart ever!

It’s true. I am the gentlest girl around. Just a quiet-natured little soul.

At my age, you’d expect a full-on puppy but no, not me.

I have a very calm and placid nature. I really don’t ask for much in life.

I walk beautifully on leash and I’m not a demanding doggy. I’m happy just being a part of things.

I’m currently 22 kilos and I have the most gorgeous coat that shines all different colours in the sun.

I’m wonderfully gentle with people I’m just meeting. I’m a little shy at first but once we’ve talked a bit, I warm up to you quickly.

I think I’d settle in most environments. I’m a very soft natured girl, so I’d love a quieter home where I can bond closely with my human.

Being a part of things – going on walks together – makes me happy.

Can you believe I’ve been waiting for a loving home since February?

It’s hard to understand why I haven’t been snapped up - with me being so gorgeous in every way.

Since being here, I haven’t met cats, chicken or stock, so not sure how I’d be, sharing a home with them.

My adoption fee is $283, which includes my desexing, registration and microchipping.

If you’re looking for a very gentle darling to welcome into your world, we could be kindred spirits.

If you call 06 759 6060 and ask for Animal Control, we could make a time to meet and take a walk together.

Hi, I’m Ronan. I’m a scrumptious 1-year-old lab staffy mix, currently at the New Plymouth Pound.

My name means ‘little seal’, which suits me well.

You see, when you first meet me, and I’m feeling a little unsure of things, I tend to hug the ground… and that’s exactly what I look like.

I just haven’t had a lot of life experience yet.

That’s okay though. I’ve been here nearly two weeks and everyday I’m growing in confidence.

The team here is taking great care of me.

My ideal home would be with kind loving people – maybe with a confident doggy, who will help me adjust well in a new home.

I’m a beautiful boy. Gentle as can be.

When I’m a little hesitant about trying something new, I’ll lie on my back and be very still… with a back leg up high in the air.

When I do this, nothing scary has ever happened, so it MUST be working.

Since being here, I haven’t met cats or chickens, so not sure how I’d be, sharing a home with them.

My adoption fee is $283, which includes my desexing, registration and microchipping.

If you’re a sucker for a sweet and sensitive chap and you’d like to teach me more about the joys in life, please call 06 759 6060 and ask for Animal Control. We can make a time to meet each other.

Thanks everyone for shares and help. Toby is now safe and we wish him well for the future.

If he's good with other dogs and cars. I can foster him

Could i foster him?

It is so demoralizing now to be in rescue. There just aren't e ought homes. Dogs must be desexed. It's critical. So many beautiful souls/dogs.

Great news! Next pup for saving is? So many of us keen to help Toby with offers of $$ and fosters so they can go towards the next in line 🤞🏽💕

Looks like a cool dog I hope he finds a home

Fingers crossed he finds his human..

Can he be fostered? Can put money contribution towards!

Good luck Toby 👍

Bump for Toby ❤️ 🙏

Hoping you find a forever home Toby x

Lisa would you know anyone?

Foster him Daisy Sparke☹️

Mikel Rogers? What’s one more 🤷🏼‍♀️🫢

Bono is still waiting for his forever family. He’s doing super well in foster care but yearns for his own treat-giver and comfy couch. Don’t let the fact he’s 7-8 years of age fool you, he’s a strong healthy boy with quite a high level of fitness.

Located in Palmerston North, he’s only searching for his new people because his previous owner passed away 💔. Please email us at [email protected] if you’d like to know more.

Poor boy be missing his owner 🥰 I have 2 dogs myself who had lost their owner 💙

Another gorgeous boy who holds a special place in his carers heart. He’s had no offers of a home and is now urgent.

Hi, I’m Dudley. I’m a 6-month-old staffy cross, currently at the Far North District Pound, in Kaitaia.

I’m a gorgeous soul. My body continuously wags with happiness.

I’m very easy to handle and, when you’re engaging with me, you’ll always have my full undivided attention.

The team say I’m “nothing short of an incredible puppy.”

They really think I’m something pretty exceptional.

I’m a smart cookie, it’s true! I’m very motivated by food rewards, which means it’s a breeze to train me.

I’ve ALMOST learnt how to sit on command, without fail.

My social interaction with other doggies, and pups, is nothing short of impeccable.

I’m always eager to play but I’m still learning my boundaries round the senior canines. When they correct me, I’ve taken note and I’m learning very well.

I am learning a lot about how to walk like a gentleman on the leash. Sometimes I pull a tiny bit, but I’m working on it!

I will be desexed, upon adoption, and I’ve been vaccinated for parvo and kennel cough.

I’m also microchipped and lodged on NDD. I’m even registered.

An adoption fee – to have the pleasure of sharing your life with me – applies.

Transport options are even available for out of district adoptions.

So, if you’ve read about me, and you’re thinking WOW, please contact Kellie. Let’s take it a step further.

UPDATE Truffle is in a trial adoptive home now thanks.

On behalf: please note, her neck is absolutely fine (it’s red dye off a bandana). Located Ruapehu district.

Truffle is a 4 year old Cavalier x Lowchen searching for her forever home.

An extremely agile little dog, Truffle requires 6ft fencing to keep her from sailing over the top every time a bird flies past, and a good long walk at least once a day to help satisfy her busy mind.

As pandemic puppy and ex-breeding dog, Truffle is wary of strangers, children, and loud groups of people. When away from her comfort zone this presents as hiding or asking to be picked up and carried past the scary people; at home she will occasionally bark and rush someone she's frightened of in an attempt to scare them away, or will retreat to her crate until they have left. She would prefer a quiet home with patient, understanding owners who will help her continue learning how best to be a pampered pet.

She has bonded very quickly with her foster carers, has beautiful manners with all other dogs, and enjoys playing with familiar cats (but will chase unknown ones who run). She attends a small dogs and owners group walk weekly and really enjoys this.

Truffle is crate trained and sleeps through the night quietly, puts her harness on eagerly for walks, recalls beautifully (unless there's a mouse under her nose), and is doing well with toilet training. She picks new things up very swiftly and is highly praise-driven.

Her natural coat is cavalier-length with a very dense undercoat; it requires a quick comb through most days to keep it free of knots and twigs, and her legs/feet are currently trimmed shorter to lessen the winter mud.

Truffle is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and registered. She weighs 7kgs.

Please email
[email protected] if you can offer Truffle her forever home.

UPDATE: Minnie is going on trial adoption 😀 Thanks to all those who shared and enquired about her.

URGENT - The pound are at capacity and Minnie needs to find a home NOW! Please SHARE to help her, thank you.

Hi, I’m Minnie. I’m a lovely – and very smart - 3-year-old female huntaway cross.

And I’m currently at the Far North District Pound, in Kaikohe.

The team here are pretty taken with me.

I’m very sweet respectful and well-mannered.

Even though I’m in the pound, I choose to look on the bright side.

Surely someone will come to meet me.

I’m passionate about life. I LOVE my soft toys. I’ll throw them round and have a great time, woohoo!

I even walk well on leash. I’ll ‘sit’ when I’m asked to and I’m very food driven, so training will be a breeze with me.

I’m a very good girl round my fellow doggies – big and small.

I love nothing more than running round and playing with them.

I’ve been vaccinated for parvo and kennel cough and I’ll be desexed prior to my adoption. I’m also microchipped and lodged on NDD.

An adoption fee for me applies.

If you’re like to come and meet me, I’d sure love to meet YOU!

LOCATED IN SOUITH TARANAKI.
Little Maggie was in the pound and she's only a pup, approx 10 weeks. Maggie is a mixed breed girl who has been lost and abandoned and now needs a permanent loving home.

She is healthy and we have had her vaccinated. She will be registered and microchipped and come with a strict desexing contract.

There is an adoption fee of $300 to contribute towards these costs. This is heavily subsidised for you and represents approximately half of what it would cost you normally.

Maggie's new home must have a safe secure place for her to be while you are out. ARAN dogs cannot be chained to kennels or left for very long periods home alone. All ARAN dogs must sleep indoors.

Our adoptions start with a two week trial period, to make sure the dog is a good fit for you. If things don't work out they return to their foster home.

The first step if you are interested in adopting is to fill out an online adoption application which you can do here:

UPDATE JOE IS NOW OUT IN A TRIAL ADOPTIVE HOME

Joe is a pure bred Labrador. He is 2.5 years old and in the pound. He is a cheerful exhuberant and friendly dog who has lived with a cat and children in a previous home, however there is no guarantee he will necessarily like any cat. He is in the pound through no fault of his.

Joe will be de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped and registered and up to date with flea/worm treatments. There is an adoption fee of $300 to contribute towards these costs. This is heavily subsidised for you and represents approximately half of what it would cost you normally.

Joe's new home must have a safe secure place for him to be while you are out.

UPDATE Jack is now in a trial adoptive home.

Jack is a 10 months old Foxie. He is 10 kg in weight so is a normal Foxie, not a mini! He is a bouncy high energy little guy, just a normal young Fox Terrier.

Jack has been de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped and registered and up to date with flea/worm treatments.

We don't know what he's like with cats, but as he's just a pup, there is no reason why he could not learn to behave well with all other animals, with the correct training.

There is an adoption fee of $300 to contribute towards these costs. This is heavily subsidised for you and represents approximately half of what it would cost you normally.

Jack's new home must have a safe secure place for him to be while you are out. ARAN dogs cannot be chained to kennels or left for very long periods home alone. All ARAN dogs must sleep indoors.

Jack needs a SECURE fenced property with no escape route!!

Our adoptions start with a two week trial period, to make sure the dog is a good fit for you. If things don't work out they return to their foster home.

LOCATED IN WHANGANUI.
Pretty blonde Billie Jo is an approximately 8 months old Labrador X who has found herself in the pound through no fault of hers . She is a labrador sized dog, not huge. She is healthy and friendly girl who just wants her own person to love. She is fine with other dags, cats and she ignores farm animals.

Billie Jo would love a home where she gets lots of exercise, outings and TLC. Her new home must have a safe secure place for her to be while you are out. ARAN dogs cannot be chained to kennels or left for very long periods home alone. All ARAN dogs must sleep indoors.

billie Jo will be desexed, vaccinated, registered and microchipped. The adoption fee is to to help towards these expenses. This is a heavily subsidised amount and represents approximately half of what it would cost you otherwise.
